Work Permits for Foreign Artists
The State of Israel allows foreign artists in many various fields to perform in Israel. At the same time, in accordance with the Law of Entry into Israel and the Law of Foreign Workers, it is obligatory to settle their status before entering Israel.
There are two ways to settle an applicant’s status:
Artists who come to perform in Israel for a fixed period of up to one month only: In these cases, it is necessary to obtain a recommendation from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, to prove that performances have indeed been scheduled through printed publicity materials, etc., to pay the fees prescribed by law, and so on. Upon completion of the necessary documents and submission of the application, the foreign artist will be issued a type B / 2 visa that allows him to perform in Israel.
Artists who come to perform in Israel for a period of more than a month: In these cases, the artist is required to apply for a work permit as a foreign expert. This is a more complex bureaucratic procedure and the deadlines for issuing work permits are significantly longer. The procedure includes submitting a detailed application as well as multiple documents including a recommendation from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, proof that appearances have indeed been scheduled through printed publicity materials, etc., payment of fees etc. Upon gathering the necessary documents and submission of the application, the foreign artist will be issued a work permit in the name of the company that employs him, as well as a type B/1 work visa that allows him to perform in Israel.
